VeeDeeS is a de-esser designed to reduce sibilant consonants present in human voice.
Phonemes like “S”, “Z”, “SH” and similar sounds tend to “stick out” from recordings, especially when the voice has been EQed to be very bright and present. A de-esser is a special type of compressor that reacts only to high frequencies. The sibilants can be attenuated while the main body of a vocal performance is unaffected. The VeeDeeS is calibrated to attenuate everything above 3kHz.
